Concert at Democratic Convention
Last update: 24 January 2001
Local Choir will sing at the Democratic Convention
During Prime Time !!!
Angel City Chorale is the only choir performing at the Democratic Convention in August !
Angel City Chorale is a 100 -member progressive, independent community choir based on Los Angeles' west side. We are diverse, both in the talents of our singers and the music that we sing.
Sue Fink, Angel City Chorale's founder and artistic director, is a performer, composer, voice teacher, and serves as the group's conductor. She founded the choir 6 years ago at McCabe's Guitar Shop in Santa Monica. Today the choir has 100 members. With energy and charisma, she has fostered a unique sense of spirit and spontaneity, which distinguishes this choir from traditional choral groups. Her dedication and tenacity have led the Chorale to its current high level of musicianship. The ensemble performs a wide variety of musical compositions, including gospel, classical, folk, jazz, pop, and world music.
Angel City Chorale has appeared at such venues as the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, the John Anson Ford Amphitheater and UCLA's Pauley Pavilion, as well as performing at varios charity functions in the Los Angeles area. The group hosts their own concert series in June and December as well.
Angel City Chorale's proudest accomplishment, however, is its ongoing commitment to the Los Angeles community. Each December, the chorale organizes and performs their annual "Tour of Hope". A day of sharing through cheerful song and charitable donations brings comfort to those Angelenos who can use it most. Last year's "Tour of Hope" included visits to six sites, such as the Puente Learning Center and the Sunlight Mission.
Also, when we perform at the convention, our choir will include several children (one from Santa Monica) and a few from Manhattan Beach , as well as several teenagers, as we nurture the talents of young people by mentoring them and giving them an unforgettable musical experience!
"Why Walk When You Can Fly", our first CD, was released in December 1999. Produced by Rick Krizman, it features our favorite selections from the past few years.
