After a year when live, in-person performances were put on pause, Angel City Chorale’s founder and artistic director Sue Fink said that pivoting to virtual performances had been imperative to the survival of the group.
In December, the Los Angeles-based Angel City Chorale — which was a semi-finalist on “America’s Got Talent” in 2018 and went viral for its choral rendition of Toto’s “Africa” — pulled off a virtual holiday concert that drew more than 45,000 viewers from around the world. Even with COVID-19 numbers coming down in California and the state beginning to reopen, Fink made the decision to host its summer concert virtually as well. The “Play It Forward” event is free and will be streamed at 6 p.m. Saturday, June 5 at angelcitychorale.org/playitforward.
